Good deeds are rewarded. This is a proverb that has been passed down through the ages and holds true in our lives today. We can see this in the stories of people who have done good things for others, and have been rewarded in kind. Take the example of Tom, a young man who was unemployed and had very little money to his name. One day, he encountered an elderly lady on the street who was struggling with her heavy shopping bags. Without hesitation, Tom offered to help her carry them home and when they arrived at her house he refused any payment for his kindness. A few weeks later, Tom received a letter from an anonymous donor offering him a job opportunity that paid enough money for him to be able to support himself comfortably. It was only then that Tom realized that his good deed had been rewarded with a new beginning in life! This story is just one example of how our good deeds can be repaid with unexpected rewards. We may never know exactly when or how we will be rewarded but if we do something kind or helpful without expecting anything in return then we will likely receive something even greater than what we gave away. Doing good is its own reward but it’s nice to know that our efforts will often be appreciated by someone else too!
