Finally, this paper concludes that high frequency wireless communication technology is a promising new type of wireless communication technology with great development potentials.
1 Introduction
Wireless communications have become an important part of our daily life due to their convenience and flexibility. With the development of science and technology, advanced technologies such as ultra-wideband (UWB) have emerged in recent years to meet the needs for higher speed data transmission. Among these advanced technologies, high frequency (HF) wireless communications are one kind that can provide large capacity data transmission at very short distances. This paper mainly introduces the basics concepts and principles behind HF Wireless Communications Technology (HFWCT), its advantages compared with other types of Wireless Communications Technologies (WCT), its disadvantages and applications in various fields.
2 Basics Concepts & Principles
HF Wireless Communications Technology is a form of radio wave propagation which uses frequencies between 3 MHz to 30 MHz for data transmission over short distances up to several kilometers [1]. It utilizes narrowband direct sequence spread spectrum modulation techniques to achieve higher data rates than other WCTs [2]. The basic principle behind HFWCT is that it transmits information through radio waves using specific frequencies within certain bandwidth range [3]. The main components involved in HFWCT are antennae systems which convert electrical signals into electromagnetic waves; receivers which detect these electromagnetic waves; modulators which encode information into electromagnetic signals; demodulators which decode information from received signals; amplifiers which increase signal strength; filters which select certain frequencies from received signals; mixers which combine two or more signals together; oscillators/transmitters which generate radio waves carrying encoded information[4].
3 Advantages & Disadvantages Compared With Other Types Of Wcts
Compared with other types of WCTs such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, HFWCT offers several advantages: 1) Higher Data Rates: HFWCT provides much higher data rates than those offered by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth due to its use of narrowband direct sequence spread spectrum techniques[5]; 2) Longer Range: HFWCT has longer range than Wi-Fi or Bluetooth since it operates at lower frequencies[6]; 3) Lower Interference: Since it operates at lower frequencies, there will be less interference from other devices operating at similar frequencies[7]; 4) More Secure: Since it operates at lower frequencies, there will be less chance for eavesdropping or interception by malicious attackers.[8]
However, there are also some disadvantages associated with using HFWCT compared with other WCTs such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth: 1) Higher Cost: Due to the complexity involved in designing HF radios/antennas systems required for transmitting/receiving HF signals over long distances,[9] they tend to be more expensive than those used for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth transmissions; 2) Limited Bandwidth Availability: Since HF bands are shared among multiple users,[10] they may experience congestion during peak hours leading to degraded performance.[11]
4 Applications In Various Fields
HFWCT has been widely used in various fields due to its ability to provide reliable long distance transmissions over short distances without requiring line-of sight conditions [12]. Some examples include military applications such as battlefield communications,[13] maritime navigation,[14] remote sensing,[15] medical applications such as telemedicine,[16], industrial automation systems [17], security surveillance systems [18], etc. Additionally, HFWTC can also be used in consumer electronics products such as walkie talkies [19], cordless phones[20], etc., where reliable low power transmissions are required over short distances without line-of sight conditions.[21]
5 Conclusion
In conclusion , High Frequency Wireless Communication Technology (HFWTC ) is a promising new type of Wireless Communication Technology that offers many advantages over traditional WCTV including higher data rates , longer ranges , less interference , more secure connections , etc . However , it also comes with some drawbacks such us higher cost s due t o complexity involved when designing radios / antennae systems required for transmitting / receiving HF signal s . Despite this , this new type o f W CT still has great potential s t o be developed further an d applied i n many different field s including military operations , medical services , industrial automation system s an d consumer electronic product s .
