Good morning everyone, Today I’d like to talk about one of the most famous and celebrated authors in the world: Agatha Christie. Agatha Christie was born in 1890 in Torquay, England. She was a British novelist and playwright best known for her mystery novels and short stories. Her work is considered to be some of the most important and influential in crime fiction history. She wrote over 66 detective novels, 150 short stories, plays and 14 romance novels under her pen name Mary Westmacott. Christie's writing style is described as a mixture of suspenseful plotting, humorous characters, clever dialogue and vivid descriptions. Her stories often revolved around an unsolved murder or disappearance with numerous suspects providing red herrings that keep readers guessing until the very end. Her works have been adapted into plays, films, radio dramas and television series with great success over the years. Christie’s most famous works include The Mysterious Affair at Styles (1920), The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (1926) , And Then There Were None (1939) , The ABC Murders (1936) , The Mousetrap (play 1952). As one of the best-selling authors of all time with over two billion copies sold worldwide she has earned herself a place amongst literary giants such as William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens . In 1971 she was awarded a Dame Commander Order Of The British Empire for her services to literature . She died peacefully at home on 12 January 1976 aged 85 leaving behind an impressive body of work that has stood the test of time .
