Chinese festivals are an important part of Chinese culture. There are many different kinds of Chinese festivals, such as the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and so on. The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. People usually celebrate it with their families by having a big dinner and watching fireworks. During this festival, people also visit their relatives or friends to give them best wishes for the new year. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in June every year to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan who drowned himself in a river out of his loyalty to his country. People eat zongzi which is made from glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves during this festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of August according to lunar calendar each year when there’s a full moon in the sky. During this festival, family members gather together and enjoy mooncakes while admiring the beautiful moonlight outside. Chinese festivals are not only about food and celebrations but also about showing respect for our ancestors as well as passing down our traditional culture from generation to generation .
