Saxophone players interested in the sound of Scott Hamilton's saxophone playing will be pleased to know that he uses a variety of equipment, including mouthpieces, reeds, and ligatures. He prefers a Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone with a Vandoren Java 2.5 reed and a Selmer C* metal mouthpiece. His preferred ligature is the Rovner Versa X. He also uses an Alexander Superial DC reed for certain pieces and a Vandoren V16 T8 for more classical pieces. In addition, he has been known to use an Otto Link Tone Edge 8* Mouthpiece with a Rico Royal 3H reed when trying out new ideas or sounds.
