Bayern Munich is a German professional football club based in Munich, Bavaria. It is best known for its professional football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system, and is the most successful club in German football history, having won a record 29 national titles and 18 national cups. Bayern has also won one UEFA Champions League title, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup title and one UEFA Super Cup title. The club was founded in 1900 by eleven footballers led by Franz John. Since then it has become one of Europe's most successful clubs on and off the pitch.
