Bayern Munich is a German sports club based in Munich, Bavaria. It is best known for its professional football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. Founded in 1900, Bayern has won a record 29 national titles and 18 national cups. Bayern is one of only three clubs to have won all three major European club competitions: the UEFA Champions League/European Cup (1974, 1975, 1976, 2001, 2013, 2020), the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1967) and the UEFA Europa League (1996). The club has traditional local rivalries with 1860 Munich and 1. FC Nürnberg but has also maintained strong rivalries with other clubs such as Borussia Dortmund since the mid-1990s.
