以造纸术写一篇英语演讲稿
Good morning, everyone. Today I am here to talk about the invention of papermaking.
Papermaking is one of the four great inventions of ancient China. It was invented by Cai Lun in 105 AD during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Before this invention, bamboo strips and silk were used as writing materials, which were expensive and inconvenient to use.
The papermaking process invented by Cai Lun is still in use today: firstly, a mixture of bark, hemp and other plant fibers are mixed with water to form a slurry; secondly, this slurry is then filtered through a cloth screen; thirdly, the wet sheet is then pressed to remove excess water; fourthly, it is dried on a flat surface or hung up to dry; finally it can be cut into smaller pieces for writing or printing on.
The invention of papermaking had an immense impact on Chinese society at that time. It made writing much easier and cheaper than before as paper was much more accessible than silk or bamboo strips. This allowed for more widespread literacy and knowledge sharing among people from different social classes which had not been possible before due to the cost involved in using silk or bamboo strips as writing materials. In addition, the introduction of paper money also helped improve economic activities in China at that time as it was much easier to carry around than coins made out of metal which were heavy and bulky.
In conclusion, Cai Lun's invention of papermaking revolutionized Chinese society at that time by making knowledge sharing and economic activities much easier than before due to its low cost and convenience compared with other writing materials available back then such as silk or bamboo strips. Thank you for your attention!
