Qualcomm is one of the world’s leading providers of wireless technology and services. The company has a strong presence in the mobile phone market, providing chips, software, and systems that enable mobile phones to connect to cellular networks. Qualcomm also produces a variety of other products including Bluetooth-enabled devices, GPS receivers, and digital signal processors.
The company’s stock is traded on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol QCOM. As of December 2020, Qualcomm had a market capitalization of $106 billion and its stock price was trading around $140 per share.
Qualcomm is structured as a Delaware corporation with two classes of common stock: Class A common stock (QCOM) and Class B common stock (QCT). Class A shares are publicly traded on the Nasdaq exchange while Class B shares are privately held by certain shareholders.
As of December 2020, Qualcomm had approximately 1.2 billion outstanding shares with approximately 878 million Class A shares and 358 million Class B shares outstanding. The majority of these outstanding shares are held by institutional investors such as mutual funds, hedge funds, pension funds, insurance companies and banks.
The largest shareholder in Qualcomm is Broadcom Inc., which owns approximately 14% of the company’s total outstanding shares as well as an additional 11% stake in voting rights through its ownership of Class B stock. Other major shareholders include Vanguard Group Inc., BlackRock Inc., Fidelity Investments Inc., Capital Research & Management Co., Wellington Management Co., Janus Henderson Investors Ltd., T Rowe Price Associates Inc., State Street Global Advisors LLC and Neuberger Berman LLC among others.
